Blizzard reveals new Overwatch 2 hero ‘Ramattra’ in gameplay trailer

A few weeks ago, Blizzard officially announced Overwatch 2's next hero – Ramattra, a new tank character that will roll out alongside the game's second season pass in December. At the time, we got a cinematic trailer, but now Blizzard has followed that up with a gameplay trailer, giving us a good look at the new tank's abilities.

Blizzard refers to Ramattra as a ‘tempo tank' due to his transformations. Ramattra has two modes, with his Omnic form being better suited to long-distance play, and his Nemesis form being better for close-range combat. The idea is that you'll start off at the back keeping your teammates alive and when the situation calls for it, you can transform and move to the front lines to take control of the fight.

Ramattra's base attack fires a stream of projectiles in a fixed pattern, and you can also set up barriers to protect your team, similar to Sigma's barriers. In Nemesis form, your base attack is a melee punch that creates a wave of energy, but you can't create protective barriers in this mode. Ramattra's special ability is Ravenous Vortex, which is a nano ball that explodes when it hits the ground, dealing out a slowing debuff to enemies – this move also brings flying enemies back down to the ground.

Finally, Ramattra's ultimate is called ‘Annihilation' and creates a swam of nanobots that deal damage to enemies and reduce enemy damage output by 50%.

Ramattra will be available in Overwatch 2 starting on the 6th of December when the game's second season pass goes live. Those who buy the season pass will unlock the new hero straight away. If you don't buy the season pass, you'll unlock Ramattra when you reach tier 55 on the season pass.
