Blizzard details Diablo IV Season 4: Loot Reborn

Blizzard has been hyping up Diablo IV's upcoming fourth season for months at this point. Now, a couple of weeks ahead of the launch, the development team have published a massive blog post detailing many of the major changes coming to the game. With the main theme of this season being the major loot and itemisation overhauls, this season will be titled Season 4: Loot Reborn.

This season will undoubtedly be the most meaningful update to Diablo IV since launch, in large part thanks to massive, permanent changes to several core systems for both the Seasonal and Eternal realms. For starters, many useless item stats have been removed from the game, cutting down the pool of stat rolls on new gear to make it easier for players to assess new loot drops. Additionally, a crafting system will allow us to reroll item stats and level up gear to a maximum Masterwork level, with greatly boosted stats over the base item.

The Codex of Power, your in-game collection of imprintable abilities for gear, now updates automatically with the maximum stat roll you've collected. Players will also be able to trade legendary and unique items for the first time.

As for endgame changes, Helltide is going to be significantly updated. From now on, players will generate ‘threat' during a Helltide, based on how many demons they wipe out, or how many Helltide chests you open. With enough threat, you will become Hellmarked, and from there, a new boss enemy will spawn to hunt you down. If you beat them, you'll be greatly rewarded with loot. If you die, well then you've got to go back to square one. Another new endgame challenge is called The Pit, in which players must beat a set number of monsters and a boss within a time limit. The Pit will be where players go to farm Masterworking materials to finetune their gear.

If you are sick of farming Duriel for uber uniques, you'll now be able to spice the grind up a bit with a new fight against Andariel, which will offer similar rewards.

The full blog post goes into great detail on many of these changes, so if you are planning on jumping back into Diablo next season, be sure to give it a read.
