Black Ops 6 is selling 60% better than MW3 on PS5 and PC

There has been a big question mark lingering over Game Pass and its viability moving forward with mega franchises like Call of Duty. It is believed that Microsoft themselves were questioning whether or not to bring the series to Game Pass due to potentially hurting sales. Based on launch numbers, it seems those fears can now be put to rest.

In a recent interview with The BBC, Treyarch producer, Miles Leslie, talked up the success of the studio's most recent game, Black Ops 6. Since launch on the 25th of October, the game has gone on to become a best-selling game, topping charts.

More importantly, Leslie revealed that this year's Call of Duty garnered 60 percent more players at launch on PlayStation and Steam compared to last year's Modern Warfare 3. This shows that Game Pass has not hurt sales of Call of Duty on PlayStation, nor has it put PC players off from buying the game.

We do not yet know how many copies the game has sold in total, or if the game has seen a sales hit on Xbox specifically due to Game Pass. Currently, the majority of Game Pass subscribers are on Xbox consoles, but Microsoft has been making an effort to boost growth on PC and cloud.

KitGuru Says: So far, putting COD on Game Pass does not appear to have made a dent in the PS5's market share, just as Microsoft predicted in its arguments to regulators seeking to block the Activision acquisition.
