BioWare drops new teaser trailer for next Mass Effect game

BioWare celebrated Mass Effect yesterday for the annual N7 Day and this year's event did not disappoint, with the studio dropping a new teaser for the next Mass Effect game.

BioWare has already teased the return of characters from the original trilogy, with an earlier teaser showing Liara. Our latest teaser shows a trenchcoat-donning N7 agent, who also just so happens to have the same colour scheme as Commander Sheppard.

On the Mass Effect website, an additional tease says “Andromeda Distress Signal Detected”, suggesting that BioWare won't write off Mass Effect: Andromeda entirely and will instead weave it into the story. The word Epsilon is also prominently featured and was previously a rejected title for Mass Effect back when the first game was being worked on. Perhaps we're heading towards Mass Effect: Epsilon rather than a numbered sequel.

In Mass Effect Andromeda, players were sent off to a new galaxy, well away from the Milky Way and the Reaper war that took place there. However, so far, all signs are pointing to the events of both series clashing in some way.

We still don't have a release date or know how far into the project BioWare is so the wait continues for Mass Effect fans. In the meantime, BioWare's next game, Dragon Age Dreadwolf, should hopefully release next year.

KitGuru Says: The original Mass Effect trilogy achieved legendary status amongst gamers. Andromeda didn't hit the same mark, but I'd certainly look forward to seeing some of those story threads returning, alongside some of the characters from the original trilogy.
