Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still ‘years away’

It has been five years since Ubisoft first announced Beyond Good and Evil 2, and unfortunately, there have been few development updates since. The game lost its director back in 2020, and now according to new reports, it seems that the game has been internally rebooted once again.

Recently, industry reporter, Tom Henderson, revealed that Ubisoft was beginning playtests for the game. Now, he has had the chance to talk with some early testers and has seen footage and images of the game. In a new exputer report, Henderson claims that the game looks very different and much more incomplete compared to the gameplay Ubisoft showed back in 2018.

Testers reportedly said that the game “lacks direction” in its current state and is likely still “years away” from an official release. Of course, it is also worth noting that Beyond Good and Evil 2 recently got a new lead writer, so there may not be any story elements in place yet.

With new project leads in place, the game should start to take shape over the next few years, assuming the project doesn't get scrapped and restarted again.

KitGuru Says: It sounds like Ubisoft won't have anything official to announce or show for Beyond Good and Evil 2 for quite some time. Perhaps in 2024-2025, that will start to change.
