Battlefield 2042 to be delayed

DICE has been strangely quiet following recent closed alpha tests for Battlefield 2042. A beta was seemingly planned for early September, but we're now half way through the month with no news on that front. Now we may know why, as insiders are reporting that the game will be officially delayed soon.

Reporter Jeff Grubb got the rumour mill spinning today by tweeting to expect a major game delay. Screenshots later emerged from a Discord server, in which Grubb confirms that Battlefield 2042 is set to be delayed, something that other insiders, like Nick Baker and Dealer Gaming, have also begun hearing.

DICE and EA have yet to confirm the delay, but there is some speculation that the game could be pushed into early 2022. This is all in stark contract to reports prior to the game's reveal, which claimed that DICE was ahead of schedule on development and that the game was on track for this year.

DICE has not publicly shared the list of changes and fixes it is making based on feedback from the Battlefield 2042 closed alpha. We do know that the alpha build had some issues and was ultimately delayed for PlayStation, limiting early tests to Xbox and PC.

KitGuru Says: If all of this chatter and speculation is accurate, then DICE and EA should confirm the release date change this week. Hopefully we'll have some official news within the next couple of days.
