Battlefield 2042 open beta to begin in early October

Last night, DICE and EA announced that Battlefield 2042 would be moving from its planned October release date to the 19th of November. As a result, the game's open beta has also slipped, with reports now pointing to a beta in October rather than September.

Battlefield 2042 is now releasing on the 19th of November, or the 12th of November for Gold and Ultimate edition buyers. Typically, DICE likes to hold an open beta six weeks before launch, and according to Tom Henderson, who has had a great track record with Battlefield 2042 leaks, the studio will be sticking to that time table.

The Battlefield 2042 beta is expected to begin on the 6th of October for pre-order customers, and then open up to all on the 8th of October. This beta delay is pretty much exactly in line with Battlefield 2042's delay to its new release date, based on early reports of the planned September beta.

Battlefield 2042 was delayed due to pandemic-related issues. DICE planned on it being safe enough to return to offices for this final development push, but issues have persisted, meaning the full team is still working remotely.
