System Requirements for Project Cars announced

If you happen to be a fan of racing simulators, then you have probably been looking forward to Project Cars for a while. The game is finally coming out next month, so Slightly Mad Studios has announced the PC system requirements, along with the resolution and frame rates of the console versions of the game.

For PC gamers, the minimum requirements include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400/ AMD Phenom II X4 940 CPU, an Nvidia GTX 260 or Radeon HD 5770 graphics card and 4GB of RAM. Recommended specifications call for an Intel Core i7 3770/ AMD FX-8350 CPU, an Nvidia GTX 600 series or an AMD Radeon HD 700 series GPU and 8GB of RAM.

The game will support extremely high resolutions and frame rates will depend on your specific set up and graphics settings, as always.

If you are looking to get this game on a console then it shouldn't surprise you that the PlayStation 4 will run the game better than other offerings on the market. The PS4 will run Project Cars at 1080p and 60 frames per second, while the Xbox One sits at 900p but also hitting the 60 frames per second sweet spot.

There is no Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version planned but the game is heading to the Wii U at some point.

KitGuru Says: I'm not much of a racer myself but Project Cars looks like a decent game. How many of you guys have a racing sim setup? Will you be grabbing Project Cars next month?

Racing wheels are the way to go, but I’m not that hardcore. I’m cool with using a controller and can’t wait to give this game a go.

  3. I cannot wait for this! I have a Logitec G27 which I’m unable to use on the ps4 (due to the devices needing a coding chip) which is going to be perfect for this.

Running GT 780, i7 4790k. Might not hit the max settings but I think it will still look pretty sweet

  4. GT 780??? I’m not so sure you know what you have. Also the G27 needs a coding chip?? It just doesn’t have the software support, aka drivers for the PS4.

  6. The steering wheels don’t need some magic security chip on PS4 (but that’s true on X1 as it was on 360).
It’s just something Logitech said in order to stop getting question about PS4 support since they announced a couple of years ago they stopped manufacturing wheels for consoles.

Until recently, the only “previous gen” wheels supported was Thrustmaster T500RS, but Project Cars devs announced recently they will support all the the PS3 compliant steering wheels from Fanatec too on PS4 (which doesn’t have a magi security chip), including obviously the new Club Sport Wheel base V2.

I have a GTX 970 (Zotac AMP! Extreme) with a low-end CPU (Q6600 overclocked to 3.4GHz), and despite always being in CPU-bound scenario, the game runs fine with a mix of HIGH a ULTRA settings (I’m a backer having access to the dev build).

  7. What the actual goat cheese is a “AMD Radeon HD 700 series” GPU?

  8. GTX780. I’m sorry I missed a vital letter out. And yes the G27 would need a coding chip to work on the ps4 as it isn’t just an issue of not have the software for it on there, All devices that connect to the PS4 need to register with the system, Logitec don’t have that ability. Thrustmaster wheels do. please go look up other articles about it instead of being a dick.

  9. Seeing as I’m in this type of business personally. Yes, I know what I’m talking about. As long as the PS4 is given the software support for the hardware it will work in that direction for input. Also, if the hardware has the input commands for the system built into it then it’ll work with the PS4 without Sony needing to update their OS to support it. I don’t want people to be misinformed. Mr. Captain Obvious… Who seems to miss the Obvious.
