Baldur’s Gate 3 enters Early Access next month

Like most game studios, the team behind Baldur's Gate 3 has faced various setbacks this year due to the Coronavirus and the need to switch to a work-from-home environment. The original plan was to get Baldur's Gate 3 into Early Access at some point in August. That release window will be missed, but fortunately, Larian has set an Early Access launch date for September.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be available on PC in early access starting on the 30th of September. Those diving into this pre-release version of the game will have at least 25 hours worth of content to play through, all of which is from Act 1 of the game. You will also be able to move on to Act 2 and Act 3 during early access, with the rest of the story being held back until the full release.

If you watch the full video above, you'll see Baldur's Gate 3 creative director, Swen Vincke, talking about the different RPG mechanics in place, all of which serve to generate different permutations and choices in gameplay.

In total, Larian is promising five Origin characters, 80 combat situations, 45,980 lines of English dialogue, 596 characters and 146 spells/actions in the Early Access version. The game will grow over time and hopefully by this time next year, the full game will have been assembled.
