Avaloren expansion appears in leaks ahead of WoW BlizzCon announcements

BlizzCon is finally returning this year with the big event set to kick off next month. If recent leaks are anything to go by, we can expect a new World of Warcraft expansion, set in the new continent of Avalon.

In convincing images shared to Reddit, we get a look at what appears to be marketing material for the new expansion. We can see Avalon named as a new continent for WoW, alongside a few images showing off the new zone:

Another image showing a laptop with an unpublished battle.net page contains more details and may have been taken by an employee working on the marketing side of things.

Wowhead has more details on the Avalon zone, which is a distant land beyond the western horizon of Azeroth. The land has been isolated for all this time and is the home to enchanted kingdoms. The expansion may centre around a conflict between the Agg'ora in this region.

Given that BlizzCon is less than two weeks away, there is a good chance that this leak is legitimate. However, fake leaks do run rampant around game announcement events and some of them can be pretty convincing. With that in mind, we'll have to wait for BlizzCon in early November to get full confirmation.

Aside from new WoW content, we expect to get a look at what's next for Diablo 4, Immortal and Overwatch during BlizzCon. We may also finally get a look at one of the secret new IP Blizzard has been cooking up.

KitGuru Says: This year's BlizzCon will be particularly interesting as the company has now joined forces with Microsoft. However, it might be too early for something like WoW on consoles, or some kind of Game Pass integration.
