Aspyr remains silent on missing KOTOR 2 cut content DLC for Switch

Aspyr launched new ports for Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 on the Nintendo Switch last year. KOTOR 2 was of particular interest, as Aspyr had also announced plans for an official cut content DLC, adding in content left on the cutting-room floor back when Obsidian first created the game. This DLC was supposed to release in Q3 2022, but it has yet to be released and Aspyr hasn't provided an update on many months.

Aspyr announced the Cut Content DLC ahead of KOTOR II's arrival on the Nintendo Switch. According to the FAQ page on Aspyr's website, the DLC will include the following content:

  • New HK Manufacturing Plant Mission – Play as your droid companion HK-47 and explore a mysterious HK Manufacturing Plant beneath the Telos military base.
  • New Revamped Ending – Experience the final level in a new way, with greater interactions from your party members and added focus on your past choices.
  • Livelier Crew Conversations – Get to know your crew on board the Ebon Hawk even better with additional lines of dialogue and interactions.
  • Bonus Quests & Challenges – Discover even more quests and combat encounters scattered on various planets around the galaxy for an extra challenge.

The page was last updated nine months ago at the time of publishing. The page still lists Q3 2022 as the release date for the DLC, with no acknowledgement of a delay or cancellation. Fans asking for an update on Aspyr's social media posts have been ignored.

For those who don't know, Knights of the Old Republic II was developed by Obsidian Entertainment in the early 2000s. The studio had just 18 months to create the game and as a result, there was a significant amount of content cut from the game. Modders have previously released Restored Content mods for KOTOR II on PC, but assuming Aspyr's DLC comes out, this would be the first time that this content has been made available officially.

KitGuru Says: This is something I've been keeping an eye out for ever since it was announced. Hopefully Aspyr can finally provide an update on this soon.
