ArcheAge returns in 2025 with sequel ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’

Earlier this year, it was announced that ArcheAge, the once highly popular MMO, would be shutting down in the US and Europe due to a dwindling player base. However, the world of ArcheAge is set to return in new form – ArcheAge Chronicles, a new RPG set 50 years after the events of the original game.

ArcheAge Chronicles was officially revealed last night during Sony's State of Play showcase, but fear not – it is not a PS5 exclusive. In fact, the studio behind the game has already confirmed plans to release on PC and Xbox, alongside PlayStation.

Like its predecessor, ArcheAge Chronicles will be an online RPG, but it is unclear if it will be a full-fledged MMO, or something a bit smaller in scale. The game is set to feature enhanced combat and “uncharted worlds filled with strategic battles and rich storytelling”, so there may be some returning characters from the original MMO, but for the most part, it appears we are moving on to new pastures.

ArcheAge Chronicles is set to release sometime in 2025, once again published by Kakaogames.

KitGuru Says: It was surprising to see the announcement that ArcheAge would be shutting down in the US and Europe earlier this year, but now we know why. There is a new game on the horizon and no doubt, the team behind the game will want old ArcheAge players to jump right into the new game.
