Amazon MMO ‘New World’ delayed until 2021

Amazon Game Studios has been working on its first MMO, New World, for years now. There have been plenty of closed alpha and beta tests during that time and it looks like the game will remain in a pre-release state for a bit longer. While the game was supposed to ship in 2020, the game has since been delayed until 2021.

New World was first pushed back to late August just a short while ago. However, based on player feedback and the team's ambition for additional content, the game is now being pushed out of this year entirely.

As part of the announcement, Rich Lawrence, Director at Amazon Game Studios, said: “we want to ensure that the most dedicated players have plenty of middle and endgame experiences as they venture through Aeternum. We want our players to feel completely immersed in the game, and know that our studio stands for quality and lasting gameplay you can trust — and that means added time to get things where we want them before we fully release.”

Now, New World is due out in ‘Spring 2021', so we likely won't get more specific release date news until early next year. In the meantime, there likely will be more closed beta tests.

KitGuru Says: New World looks interesting, although I've heard mixed feedback from those who have played it early. With that in mind, perhaps this delay is for the best. Have many of you tried New World in closed beta? What do you think of the latest delay?
