Napster hits iOS devices

Apple owners rejoice because Napster have finally released an application for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Historians among us will remember that Best Buy bought Napster for $121 million which has helped its survival in this tough climate.

The NAPSTER application allows the end user to list to over 10,000,000 songs as often as they want. The program also offers access to new songs, older recordings and also the top tracks on the Billboard charts. If you are into the golden hits then rest assured that Napster support songs right back to 1955.

Customers can save songs, create playlists and then listen to the music on their iOS based device. You can even hear recordings from artists similar to your favourites via the automix feature. This sounds very like the GENIUS software incorporated into iTunes!

The application is free to download however to get access to the content you have to pay $10 a month and if you do pay then you can also listen to Napster music on a browser at no extra cost.

KitGuru says: We are surprised Apple have cleared this application for release as it offers a service very similar to their iTunes store.
