Street Fighter 6 has sold four million copies since launch

Capcom's Street Fighter 6 has achieved an impressive milestone, selling over four million copies since its release in June 2023. Capcom came to social media to announce the achievement, where it also expressed gratitude to the players for their support and shared plans for the game's future.

By January 2024 (seven months after its launch), Street Fighter 6 had sold three million copies. Fast-forwarding eight months, the game has sold another million copies. According to Capcom, that's within their expectations for the title. Capcom had set an ambitious target for Street Fighter 6, aiming to surpass the sales of its predecessor, as the company aspires to exceed 10 million units sold throughout Street Fighter 6's lifecycle.

In comparison, the iconic 1993 SNES title, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, sold 4.1 million copies, while the original Street Fighter 2 achieved 6.3 million copies sold. Street Fighter 5, the immediate predecessor of Street Fighter 6, sold 7.6 million copies. Moreover, Street Fighter 6 faces competition from the Mortal Kombat series, with Mortal Kombat 1 selling four million units within 11 months of its release, solidifying its position as a strong competitor in the fighting game genre, even if the competitive scene is smaller than on Capcom's fighting game.

As Street Fighter 6 continues to evolve, the recent announcement of DLC characters, Terry and Mai from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters, alongside the upcoming addition of Elena in Winter 2025, indicates ongoing support and updates for the game. However, we expect there's more to come to Capcom's fighting game in the future.
