Sons of the Forest surpasses 2 million players in just 24 hours

The Forest ended up going on to become one of the most successful Early Access survival games on Steam. Now, the developers have followed it up with a highly anticipated sequel, Sons of the Forest, which has already gone on to sell 2 million copies just 24 hours after its Early Access launch on Steam.

Endnight Games shared the news via Twitter, where it also thanked players for their support. Besides having the 18th highest all-time peak player count on Steam, it's also currently one of the most-played titles on the platform, beating the likes of Hogwarts Legacy, Lost Ark, and Warzone 2.0.

For those who don't know what the game is about, this survival game follows in the footsteps of its predecessor. In this game, you play as someone who has been sent to rescue a missing millionaire on a secluded island. However, like in the first game, you end up in a cannibal-infested hellscape where you'll have to craft, build, and battle to survive alone or with friends. The title is currently in early access and is planned to stay in Early Access for another six to eight months, although Endnight Games is open to extending this further if needed.

Sons of the Forest is now available on Steam for £24.99. As of now, it's unknown if the game will release on other platforms.
