QuakeCon returns in August

Following three years of digital-only events, QuakeCon 2023 will bring the popular BYOC format back to the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, from Thursday, August 10th, through Sunday, August 13th.

The prominent fan gathering event returns with a revamped and enhanced BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party for four days of continuous gaming, various events, and a chance to meet old friends and new people. Moreover, as in previous years, a complete slate of programming will be broadcast live on Twitch from the BYOC floor for those unable to come.

In addition to the BYOC, there will also be other activities, such as Tabletop Village. QuakeCon will also hold the annual esports conclusion of the Quake World Championships, which will feature Quake Champions, as well as several exhibitors and activities. The show's schedule and layout will be published soon.

QuakeCon will be a ticketed-only event this year, with admission restricted to pre-registered BYOC attendees. Tickets will be available on April 21st and start at $75 with the standard tier, which includes a LAN seat, BYOC T-Shirt and 24/7 access to all events. The $200 Premium ticket offers the same as the standard ticket, with the addition of early access to seat selection, express lane BYOC check-in and an exclusive Pecos Pete Mug.

Lastly, the $400 Elite ticket is reserved for a select few and you'll need to enter a prize draw in order to get the opportunity to buy one. These tickets include priority BYOC seat selection, an earlier BYOC check-in, an onsite gaming chair upgrade, extra desk space, a personalised esports jersey and an exclusive Pecos Pete mug with unlimited drink refills.

Kitguru says: It's nice to see BYOC and LAN parties returning. However, one should note that this type of event was already in decline before the pandemic. Now that the public has gone a few years without LAN events like this, we wonder if there will be a popularity boost or if attendance will decline further.
