Microsoft’s new Copilot for Gaming feature promises to help you get good

Xbox is set to integrate AI-powered features directly into the gaming experience, aiming to streamline gameplay, enhance discovery, and facilitate re-engagement with titles. During The Official Xbox Podcast, Fatima Kardar, Xbox Corporate Vice President of Gaming AI, and Jason Ronald, Vice President of Next Generation, unveiled this and other upcoming updates.

Kardar introduced Copilot for Gaming, an AI-driven companion that will soon be available in preview for Xbox Insiders on mobile devices. This gaming assistant is designed to expedite access to favourite games, provide improvement guidance, and create stronger connections within gaming communities. The core philosophy behind Copilot for Gaming is to offer assistance when needed while remaining unobtrusive during gameplay.

A primary focus of Copilot for Gaming is time management, enabling gamers to spend less time on tedious tasks such as game discovery, downloads, and updates and more time playing. Copilot for Gaming aims to create a more seamless and personalised Xbox experience by suggesting games based on individual preferences or reminding players of their progress in previously abandoned titles.

Kardar showcased a particularly intriguing feature: in-game help. Copilot can provide context-specific recommendations by processing spoken language input to help players overcome in-game challenges and improve their skills. Like others, this feature will be optional, allowing players to decide when and how to engage with it.

The Xbox Insider Program will provide gamers with early access to Copilot for Gaming, allowing them to test its functionalities and provide feedback. This will ensure that the AI solutions are aligned with player needs and preferences.

Jason Ronald also announced that the Xbox Play Anywhere program now boasts over 1,000 supported titles. This feature allows players to purchase a game once and play it on both Xbox consoles and Windows 10/11 PCs, with save progress and achievements seamlessly transferring between platforms.
