NetEase Games' free-to-play hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, is showing no signs of slowing down. After a hugely successful first month with over 20 million players, the game has reached new heights with the launch of its Season 1.
Just days after the season's debut, Marvel Rivals has shattered its previous concurrent player record on Steam (via SteamDB), peaking at over 644,000 players. This surpasses the previous record of 480,000 and solidifies the game's position as a major contender in the hero shooter genre.
Season 1 of Marvel Rivals introduces two new characters (Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman), a new map, a new game mode called Doom Match (free-for-all game mode), and plenty of in-game items and cosmetics. Alongside the new season, there's also a new Twitch Drops campaign where viewers can snag special drops, including a Hela outfit, a banner, and a spray.
Of course, no new season would be complete without a Battle Pass, and Marvel Rivals delivers with its Eternal Nightfall Luxury Battle Pass. Packing over twice the content of Season 0's Battle Pass, including ten new outfits, emotes, sprays, and more.
Although Marvel Rivals just got into Season 1, the game is already a success, and that has translated into impressive revenue figures. Estimates from Game Look suggest that Marvel Rivals generated over $100 million outside of China in its first month, with a total of $136 million including the Chinese market.
