Epic Games is shutting down online services and delisting a bunch of older titles

As Epic Games is moving to only support Epic Online Services, the publisher is disabling out-of-date online services and servers for various old titles. After turning off the online services, some games won't be playable anymore, but there are also a few that you can still play offline.

Epic Games announced it will turn off the online services for games such as Unreal Tournament 3, Dance Central 3, and Rock Band 3 on January 24th, giving you plenty of time to play one last time for the sake of nostalgia. Since yesterday, Epic Games has already halted sales on all digital storefronts and is disabling all purchases of in-game DLCs in the affected titles.

The list of titles that will have their online services disabled includes:

  • 1000 Tiny Claws
  • Dance Central 1-3
    • Note: Dance Central VR online multiplayer will remain available
  • Green Day: Rock Band
  • Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess
  • Rock Band 1-3
    • Note: Rock Band 4 online multiplayer will remain available
  • The Beatles: Rock Band
  • Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars
  • Unreal Gold
  • Unreal II: The Awakening
  • Unreal Tournament 2003
  • Unreal Tournament 2004
  • Unreal Tournament 3
    • Note: We have plans to bring back online features via Epic Online Services in the future.
  • Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

As part of this, the publisher is also removing the Mac and Linux versions of Hatoful Boyfriend and Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star from all storefronts and the mobile title DropMix. If you own any of these games, you'll still be able to play them.

Moreover, Battle Breakers will also shut down on December 30th, meaning you won't be able to access it from that day forward. Players will be refunded for in-game purchases made via Epic direct payment 180 days prior to yesterday. Lastly, Unreal Tournament (Alpha), Rock Band Blitz, Rock Band Companion app and SingSpace will also be shut down on January 24th.
