Ed Boon confirms Injustice 2 has sold over 9 million copies worldwide

Injustice 2 has sold over 9 million copies worldwide, according to NetherRealm Studios co-creator Ed Boon.

Boon disclosed the sales figure in a post on BlueSky (via GameReactor) following a discussion regarding NPD Group data for top-selling superhero games in the US (ranked on dollar sales). The dataset listed Injustice: Gods Among Us in eighth place and Injustice 2 in tenth, trailing titles like Marvel's Spider-Man, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight. Responding to a user asking whether Injustice 2 had surpassed 2 million sales, Boon confirmed that the game has surpassed 9 million in global sales.

Despite these strong numbers, NetherRealm Studios hasn't yet officially confirmed a sequel. However, earlier this year, an artist at WB Games listed “Injustice 3 (TBD)” on their resume, suggesting Injustice 3 might be in development.
