Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner remaster touts 4K and VR support

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is being brought back for another round as Konami has announced the title will be available for PC and PS4 in 2018. The Hideo Kojima produced mech-action game will be receiving virtual reality support across both platforms and make use of 4K resolution on PC and PS4 Pro.

The hack-and-slash was originally released for PlayStation 2 back in 2003, vastly improving on its convoluted predecessor and earning its place as one of the best games in its genre. The game was last seen in the 2012 HD remaster released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a part of the Zone of the Enders HD Collection along with the first game in the series.

Although the first game in the series isn’t getting the PS4/PC treatment, newcomers need not worry as the plot focuses on an entirely different protagonist two years after the original plot. The 2nd Runner actually brought many different members to the team, including a new director to create an entirely different Zone of the Enders experience.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars doesn’t just stop at redesigning the graphics and adding support for virtual reality, but even includes “next-gen surround sound.” The game is pegged for a Spring 2018 release.

KitGuru Says: My only memories of the Z.O.E. franchise are quite confusing, with me not quite understanding what was going on. Perhaps this was due to the first game having so many complex things going on at once, perhaps it was how young I was when it released. All I know is that I look forward to this new release in hopes that I will be able to understand things once and for all. Are you excited about The 2nd Runner remaster?
