Rockstar drops its third Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer

Rockstar has released its third proper look into Red Dead Redemption 2 with a brand new 2-minute trailer. Alongside cinematics of what to expect from the anticipated open-world Western, the developer has also given a snippet into our new protagonist’s history.

Much like the second trailer that debuted last year, the third trailer focuses on story and cinematic atmosphere, forgoing gameplay elements in favour of introducing the brand new protagonist, Arthur Morgan.

“America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.”

“After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”

Despite being titled as a sequel to the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar's upcoming game will act as a prequel to the original, including the same expansive open-world content and similar online elements.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been in the works for quite some time, having been delayed numerous times. It looks like Rockstar is keeping its word on maintaining the October 26th release date, when the title will drop for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

KitGuru Says: Although it’s a shame not to see any gameplay elements just yet, there’s plenty of time in the five-and-a-half months until release. Are you excited for Red Dead Redemption 2?
