Forza Horizon 4 becomes fastest-selling in the series despite ongoing connection issues

Connection issues have been plaguing Forza Horizon 4 since it launched last week, as players claim they are being kicked from Ranked Team Adventures and unfairly banned as a result. Fortunately, this hasn’t slowed down sales as Microsoft’s latest racing game has become the series’ fastest-selling title in the UK.

Due to the competitive nature of Ranked, Forza Horizon 4 carries its ban hammer proudly to penalise quitters and trolls that directly affect the scores of others, be it for better or for worse. Unfortunately, many have seen this backfire thanks to connectivity issues preventing people from connecting to a Ranked Team Adventure, and booting those that manage to. Naturally, the game sees these players as quitters, unfairly punishing them with a ban.

Microsoft’s official Forza Support Twitter page reassured fans that it recognised the issue almost immediately after launch, however the problem still persists to this day. This doesn’t seem to have affected the game’s sales, however as Microsoft tells GamesIndustry.biz that Forza Horizon 4 has become the fastest-selling game in the Forza series to date.

“We're thrilled that Forza Horizon 4 has been so well received by gamers across the UK,” explains Xbox UK director Harvey Eagle. “Set in beautiful, historic Britain and made by British studio Playground Games, Forza Horizon 4 is the fastest-ever selling game of the Forza Horizon series in the UK according to the latest GfK data.”

This has helped sell more Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, granting access to a large library of titles within Microsoft’s cloud gaming service. Unfortunately, a further problem affects those playing Forza Horizon 4 through the Game Pass, preventing players from adding Formula Drift Car Pack cars to their garage without spending in-game credits. This is something that Playground Games is working to correct in a future update.

Despite the few problems the game does have, Forza Horizon 4 has achieved universal acclaim across critics and users alike. It debuted at number 3 on the UK charts, just behind fellow new entry Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and returning champ, FIFA 19.

KitGuru Says: While so many streamers have fallen in love with the game, most have fled to other titles until the problem is solved. Have you experienced any issues with Forza Horizon 4 since it launched?
