CD Projekt Red teases crossover for The Witcher 3’s Geralt

The Witcher 3 fans got their final taste of the Wild Hunt when its last downloadable content, Blood and Wine dropped in 2016. This might not be their last outing with Geralt of Rivia, however, as community leader Marcin Momot has teased that the Witcher might just step out of his own game and into another later this year.

His original tweet is nothing more than a hypothetical question, asking “What if Geralt was going to step out of the @witchergame for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year?” Momot has since gone silent on the matter, with his only reply being a thinking emoji.

Needless to say, this has sent fans into a frenzy, with each one coming up with their own dream team-up with the character. One proposed that he could be a part of a Monster Hunter World event, while another wishfully pleaded for Geralt’s inclusion in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

One suggestion that seems plausible, however, is Soulcalibur VI, which is expected to launch sometime this year. The Soulcalibur series has played host to a plethora of unlikely guest characters over the years, from The Legend of Zelda’s Link to Star Wars’ Darth Vader and Yoda, to Ezio from Assassin’s Creed.

Further lending credibility to the speculation is that Soulcalibur is published by Bandai Namco, the same company that distributed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Of course, Geralt is a perfect fit for the weapon-based combat of Soulcalibur, being adept with his two swords as well as his signs potentially being utilised as power moves.

Take this news with a pinch of salt, however, as nothing has been officially confirmed by CD Projekt Red.

KitGuru Says: When I suggested Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy, Shadow of War’s Talion and NieR: Automata’s 2B for the next Soulcalibur game, I completely missed The Witcher 3’s Geralt, who incidentally would be the best fit of them all. What game would you like to see Geralt jump into?
