New Xbox 360 dashboard scheduled for Nov 25th

Microsoft have plans to launch the new Xbox 360 dashboard on November 25th, according to reports on GigaOM. The major update will be based around ‘LakeView' which is a modified version of Microsoft's Silverlight development framework. This will include Kinect's voice recognition and gesture control.

This new dashboard will also showcase applications mostly based on Silverlight and H.264 encoded video delivery using Apple's HTTP live Streaming.

The report would indicate that Microsoft are still working on the code for this as they are continuing to release updates to the application framework on a weekly basis. The sources say that Microsoft have made big changes to the platform's capabilities over the last couple of weeks which has even required their partners to retest and adjust their applications for each release.

GigaOM report “That could be one reason that Microsoft has remained mum on its implementation of Silverlight on the Xbox, We reached out to both the Silverlight and Xbox PR teams but were told that the company “has nothing to announce” about the development framework’s being used for its game console.”

Kitguru says: will the new update be a good move?
