Steam Deck reservations are at their highest since the system’s launch

Valve finally started shipping Steam Decks earlier this year following a nearly year’s long wait from its initial reveal. Alongside the announcement that Valve are upping the rate of production of the much-desired handheld, they revealed that demand has also never been higher.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Steam Deck account (@OnDeck) revealed just how successful valve’s handheld is currently, saying “the number of Steam Deck reservations being made on a daily basis continues to grow, and is at its highest since our launch earlier this year!”

This comes in the wake of the announcement that shipping window estimates have been brought forward thanks to an increase in production rates for the in-demand console. While the Steam Deck launched in a rather buggy state, Valve have continued to slowly improve both the software and hardware experiences of the exciting portable PC.

Seeing these post-launch woes being fixed may have contributed to the system’s current and continued popularity. It will be interesting to see how demand fares once supply has been fully accounted for and no longer requires a reservation waiting period – though it is anyone’s guess when that will be.
