Sky Sports Premier League now has a commentary chat bot

Football fan app-maker, GameOn, has announced a partnership with Sky Sports, to bring an interactive chat and commentary bot to a number of social networking messaging platforms. Able to understand natural language requests from users, GameOn's bot can provide commentary on ongoing games, answer questions and can provide news and updates straight to fans all over the world.

Named Jeff Bot, after the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday presenter, Jeff Stelling, the chat algorithmic commentator will be available through Facebook, Slack, Skype or Telegram and should act like your most knowledgeable football friend. Designed to emulate Stelling's particular style of presentation, Jeff Bot will give users live updates during their favourite teams' games and will provide news reports in the morning and evening – or whenever you set them to show up.

Customisation is a big part of the chatbot experience, letting users decide which teams to ‘follow,' what sort of updates they want to receive, when they want them and how much they want Jeff Bot to jump in and provide commentary on live matches.

Based on a similar framework to GameOn's previously launched NFL and Olympics chatbots, Jeff Bot is designed to make the experience of watching football more engaging than ever before, as well as helping to keep fans up to date with the latest comings and goings of their favourite teams.

“We're always looking for new and innovative methods to better connect with fans and deliver more entertaining ways for our audience to enjoy the sports they love,” said, David Gibbs, Digital Director for Sky Sports & Sky News. “Working with GameOn allows us to try something different with Chatbots and introduce a new experience that's consistent with the Sky Sports tone and feel that fans enjoy.”

You can find the Jeff Bot within the GameOn Sports Chat app, which is available for both iOS and Android.
