Ubisoft unveils the first Far Cry 4 trailers, gives a glimpse at the game play

Ubisoft this week published the first two teasers of the upcoming Far Cry 4 video game that is due to be released in mid-November on multiple platforms. One of the videos shows the beginning of the game and introduces the main villain of the title, another gives a glimpse at the FC4’s game play.

For ten years Far Cry video games have been among the most beautiful titles on the market, the fourth game in the franchise is going to continue this tradition. The upcoming Far Cry 4 will bring the main character to Kyrat, an imaginary country in the Himalayas that is steeped in tradition and violence. The player will be thrown into a civil war against the oppressive regime of the dictator named Pagan Min, who is introduced in the first trailer. As expected, the new game is even more photo-realistic than its predecessor, the Far Cry 3. Non-player characters (NPCs) move much more naturally and effects like depth-of-field, motion-blur, ambient occlusion and other seem to be made better and generally more accurate. Still, since this is a real game, not a technology demonstration from AMD or Nvidia, many things still look somewhat artificial (e.g., clothes and physics), which is a consequence of certain optimizations/simplifications that are made in order to ensure high performance on mainstream PCs.

The Far Cry 4 will remain an open-world first-person shooter with terrain spanning from lush forests to the snowcapped Himalayas. The main character will have to fight leopards, rhinos, black eagles, vicious honey badgers and other deadly wildlife in addition to variety of human enemies. The latter can now attack from above, below, left or right using various weapons.

The second trailer gives a better understanding of the Far Cry 4 game play, which is traditionally action-packed. As usual in the Far Cry franchise, it will be possible to use any combination of tools and weapons to fulfill the tasks. Moreover, there will also be a co-op mode, which should make the title even more appealing. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04z45SOAH5k']

The Far Cry 4 will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One, on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and 4 as well as on the PC.

KitGuru Says: The Far Cry 4 looks perfect and it will probably be a great game as well. What is very impressive is that it should be a lot different compared to the first three games in the franchise.
