Overclockers UK Infin8 Nebula Custom Watercooled Gaming PC

We don't often get the chance to review a high end custom watercooled system from one of the United Kingdom's biggest retailers, so when Overclockers UK offered their Infin8 Nebula we were interested – specifically to see what they could do for the money.

The Infin8 Nebula as tested today with dual GTX980 cards costs £3,488.94 inc vat, with a single GTX980 it is £2966.92 inc vat. So while there is no doubt it is a lot of dosh, it is a heck of a lot less expensive than the full monty 8Pack systems on sale over HERE – these cost up to £12,549.95. OCUK say that the Infin8 systems are ‘Inspired by 8Pack' with many of his processes and standards being replicated for this specific range.

The Infin8 Nebula we reviewed today is an exceptional system, built to the highest standards. I would be hard pushed myself to match this build although I have to admit I do fall short of the best system builders seen on our Facebook page.

In regards to performance, the Infin8 Nebula delivers the goods. The overclocked 4790K is clocked high enough to not only act as the central point for 4K gaming, but it can easily handle more serious 3D rendering and video encoding duties. If you want to play games, then the dual GTX980's are capable of delivering stable, high frame rates at Ultra HD 4K resolutions.

The real star of the show is the watercooling configuration. Both GTX980's run at 40c under extended load, and the fans are whisper quiet at all times. It is actually difficult to hear the system in operation, unless you bend over and put your ear close to the chassis. This in itself will be appealing to the wealthy gaming audience who want to ditch an older, noisy system in search of a system both immensely powerful and quiet.

The Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL case deserves a special mention. My colleague Leo Waldock enjoyed the design in his review but this was my first chance to get an extended hands on with the Mini XL. It is beautifully constructed and has enough mounting room to cope with multiple radiators. Routing is first class, and all the cabling is neatly stored out of sight.

So why would you be interested in this system because you could build your own for less, right? Well yes, more than likely you could, but unless you have a lot of time, and experience, this is not a beginner friendly build. We are not saying it is difficult to build a custom watercooled system, but it can be time consuming and a lot of work to do properly. Overclockers UK take all the stress out of the build and offer a 3 year warranty as part of the package. If this is not enough then 5 year warranty options are available, at extra cost. If you get a leak, or something goes wrong they will take care of you and get it working again. Its certainly added peace of mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed testing this system, it is a great rig for 4K gaming, and it looks stunningly beautiful in a darkly lit room. True, the purple lighting would not have been my first choice, but it grew on me over the last week – you can cycle through a series of RGB colours if this annoys you however.

The lack of noise under any kind of load situation indicates that spending a little extra money on high grade watercooling is worth every penny. If you can't build your own, or no longer have the time or patience, then you won't get better than the OverclockersUK Infin8 Nebula.

I know you have an advertising deal with ocuk but anyone who pays that kinda money for that pc needs their head examined

  2. Actually, we sell these systems all day long – why would they need their head examined? It’s an expensive system, but it’s high end components and comes with a warranty service and professional build quality. Granted some people prefer to build their own – but for those who want to save the hassle then this is a great solution for a high-end build. Some people invest into stocks, some people invest into cars, some people invest into computers. All relative.

Maybe you should check this system out https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-001-8P

Its fair enough that people can choose what to spend their money on, however my personal opinion is that it offers extremely poor value for money, I’m not going to price every individual piece but it seems that you’re charging around £1000 to build this machine, I and many others can knock an air cooled rig together in under 30 mins it’s really easy, granted water cooling system takes much longer but still not enough to justify that kind of markup.

How many of these do you shift a month?
