OCUK Titan 300i Fiato 4.4ghz System Review

The OCUK Titan 300i Fiato system is a well built, balanced system that will suit a wide audience of gamers who need to keep system building costs to under £1,000 inc vat.

Pricing is £832.99 inc vat, although if you want the Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system, the cost rises to over £900 inc vat.

We were surprised to see that OCUK had used the ‘Titan' moniker in the system name as it may lead some people into thinking that the market leading Nvidia GTX Titan is part of the build. It isn't even a high cost extra.

The overall selection of components is well researched and most of them are award winning in their own specific categories. We do specifically like the Samsung Solid State Drives, as they are very competitively priced and don't negatively impact on the overall cost of the system build. In conjunction with the 1TB mechanical Hard drive, all bases are covered.

The overclocked MSI HD7850 graphics card is a positive starting point, and as our tests show, it is capable of powering many of the leading Direct X 11 engines with high image quality settings at 1080p. OCUK do offer a variety of more powerful graphics cards via their system builder tool here, if you want a little more frame rate prowess – right up to the market leading HD7970 and GTX680.

Internally, the system builders have paid plenty of attention to detail. Cable routing is tidy and hidden behind the motherboard tray, out of sight. The Bitfenix Merc Alpha is a decent little case, lightweight, yet well built and quite attractive to look at, even if it isn't eye catching by some standards. This system is actually ideal if you want to carry it around to LAN events.

Overall, we have no hesitation recommending the build. Since we got the system for review, Overclockers said they had negative feedback about the Corsair fans on the H80i cooler and they have adopted the Asetek 570LC Dual Fan 120mm Water Cooler CPU Cooler instead. The acoustics section of this review is therefore not reflective of the system you would build today from their store.

You can buy the system over here on the OCUK website.

Pros:

  • Clean build.
  • excellent selection of components.
  • overclocked out of the box.
  • good gaming performance.

Cons:

  • Stiff competition at the £800 to £1000 price point.

Kitguru says: A well built, high performance system.

  1. I have heard horror stories about their RMA process, is it bad?

  2. Nice little build, and not much more than I could do it for myself. im tempted for my brother who needs a new one.

  3. Excellent, nice price point. id probably move the GPU up a little and omit the OS. as I have several copies of Windows 7 here

  4. @ Eran
Overclockers UK were bought out by Caseking early last year, since then there has been a major focus on improving customer service. You can see this improvement on Google/trustpilot ratings.

  5. Its a good build, but i would definitely spend extra- that case is rubbish, its a cheap case and feels cheap.

  6. Scan systems are better priced and they look after their customers too. fact.

  7. I think its a good overall build, but I worked out I could build the same system with a HD7950 for the same price. it just shows if you can build them you save money. but I know not everyone can.

  8. Just bought a system from PCSPECIALIST, and I love it. I always buy from them, had my three systems over the last 5 years from them. recommended.
