Windows 11 is now the most popular PC OS for gaming

Windows 11 has not been free from controversy since it was first released back in 2021. From issues surrounding compatibility to aesthetic changes, many have opted not to update to Windows’ ‘latest and greatest’ OS. That said, in the nearly 3 years since release, the platform has for the first time surpassed its predecessor to become the most popular PC OS for gaming.

As they do every month, Steam have released their hardware and software survey for August, revealing an interesting trend in the adoption of Windows 11 as a gaming platform.

With 49.17% of all Steam users running Windows 11, Microsoft’s latest OS has now become the most popular for PC gaming, thanks to an increase of 3.36%pt.

In contrast, Windows 10’s figures have understandably fallen to second place, capturing 47.09% of the Steam market – a decrease of 3.07%pt compared to July.

While Windows 11 was designed with many additional gaming-centric features in mind (such as Auto HDR and DirectStorage), initial adoption remained relatively slow.

That said, with Windows 11 now being the most popular OS on Steam, it’ll be interesting to see whether developers choose to implement more of these Windows 11-exclusive features. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru Games: The Genius Casting of Kaitlyn Dever in HBO’s The Last of Us

Following an explosive and highly popular first series, HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is almost upon us. Set to premiere on the 13th of April, the sequel season based on Naughty Dog’s controversial Part II is likely to spark up even more discourse than the first. Unlike 2020’s masterpiece however, HBO’s adaptation has made one key decision which – if handled well – could not only serve to build upon the theming of the game itself, but also function as a different way to tell the same message. That being the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.
