Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 now supports offline play on Steam Deck

Last month, we reported that the much-loved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 would finally be leaving the confines of the Epic Games store, launching on Steam on the 3rd of October. Unfortunately, the game arrived with an always-online requirement – a major issue for Steam Deck users. Thankfully the game has now been updated, allowing Steam Deck owners to play offline as they please.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 on Steam has seen its first major update since the game launched on the 3rd of October. Focused entirely on the Steam Deck experience, patch 1.1 brings with it two key improvements:

  • The keyboard overlay now works properly for Steam Deck users.
  • Steam Deck users can now play offline

For context, as with the Epic Games Store version, Pro Skater 1+2 requires an always online connection to play on PC. While this in and of itself is an issue for some, Steam Deck users in particular suffered due to not being able to play the game offline when on the bus or in a car etc…

This update therefore comes as a much welcome relief for those who opted to purchase Pro Skater 1+2 specifically to play on the Steam Deck. That said, it is worth noting that the removal of the game’s always-online requirement applies only to the Steam Deck, meaning regular PC users will still not be able to play without an online connection.

While certainly a massive step in the right direction, hopefully another update comes out at some point in the future to remove this always-online requirement for other PC users. We will have to wait and see.
