While EA might be doing very little with The Sims IP, wanting to rest on its laurels with the now 10 year old SIms 4, other studios have come in to pick up the slack. One of the most promising upcoming games in the life-sim genre is inZOI. Set to launch in Early Access latest this week, the title has now surpassed Hollow Knight Silksong as the most-wishlisted game on Steam.
The ambitious life-sim inZOI has seen a great deal of buzz ahead of its Early Access launch on the 28th of March. Aided by a decade-long wait for a Sims 5 which will never come to be, fans of the genre have seemingly found a replacement for EA’s once-loved franchise – now becoming the most-wishlisted game on Steam.
Of course, Steam’s wishlist is dynamic and has seen a change in its rankings over time, but aside from small stints, Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight Silksong has remained at the top for quite a while – making its (likely-temporary) dethroning rather notable.
All that said, it will be interesting to see how this changes following its Early Access launch. As mentioned, while seemingly a highly promising title, reactions to inZOI by those who managed to get in ahead of its public launch have walked away with mixed opinions.
Regardless, whether inZOI becomes the next Sims or not, it is exciting to have a new IP with a great deal of promise be met with such high enthusiasm. Hopefully it manages to meet or even exceed expectations.
