Palworld becomes 3rd most concurrently played Steam game ever

Just yesterday, we reported on the immediate success of the Pokemon-inspired open world monster collecting game ‘Palworld’ which sold over 4 million copies in 3 days. In the short time since, the game has only continued to surge in popularity, selling an additional 1 million copies and becoming one of the most concurrently-played Steam games ever.

Taking to Twitter less than 24 hours after announcing it had sold 4 million copies, the team at Pocketpair revealed that “#Palworld has sold over 5 million copies in only 3 days! Thank you soooo much!”

Even more impressive is just how many players are engaging with the game, with Palworld having amassed a massive concurrent player count of over 1.5 million (1,582,482 to be exact). This puts Palworld comfortably as the 3rd most concurrently played game in the history of Steam – only behind Counter Strike (1.8 million) and PUBG (3.2 million).

Considering the game has been out for a mere couple days, it is entirely possible that Palworld will only continue to grow from here. Of course, it could also be a zeitgeist moment which has already passed its peak. Regardless, the immediate success of Palworld is highly impressive.
