More people are playing 2015’s Arkham Knight than Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the first game from legendary studio Rocksteady since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight almost 9 years ago. Unfortunately, it seems as though the live-service multiplayer-focused title has failed to capture the hearts of fans, as just a few weeks removed from the game’s launch, more people are playing the single-player-only Arkham Knight over Suicide Squad.

Thanks to the existence of Steam charts, it is incredibly simple to figure out a game’s popularity and compare it to other titles on the platform. In going to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s page, it can be seen that in the past 24 hours the live-service game had peaked at 4,885 players – a rather paltry figure considering its multiplayer-focused nature.

This is even more so the case when looking at Rocksteady’s previous game for comparison. Despite being a single player experience released all the way back in 2015, Batman Arkham Knight has in the past 24 hours had more players than the newly released Suicide Squad – seeing a 24 hour peak concurrent of 5,011 players.

Again, it is worth stressing the fact that not only is Arkham Knight a 9 year old game, but it is a single-player only experience – making the comparison to Suicide Squad even more embarrassing.

Of course, we are not privy to player counts for PlayStation and Xbox systems, and so it is entirely possible that the game is doing significantly better on the home consoles. That said, the fact that Arkham Knight is currently more popular than the week-old Suicide Squad on Steam is somewhat telling.
