More evidence suggests Ubisoft is returning to Steam

Last week we reported on a data mine which suggested that Ubisoft could be bringing its games to Steam, at least in some capacity. At the time, we only knew of one game which is planned for release on the platform, but thanks to further data mining, more have been uncovered.

Last week, Ubisoft Connect launcher data miner ‘YoobieTracker’ discovered a new product entry which lists a Steam version of 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – all but confirming that Ubisoft is making a return to the Steam platform in some form or another.

‘YoobieTracker’ has now also uncovered a listing for a Steam version of the free-to-play multiplayer title Roller Champions, suggesting that the publisher is planning to make a grand return onto the platform.

As mentioned with the previous data mine, the games listed for Steam so far are relatively new titles with live service elements, and as such it will be interesting to see whether older games will also be added.

One thing we do know is that future titles are likely to be added to Steam day-one, with a game tentatively known as ‘Codename Orlando’ said to also be coming to the platform.

Though we saw multiple publishers turn their backs on Steam over the past decade, it is interesting and exciting to see that these publishers are finally returning, giving more freedom to PC players.
