Helldivers 2 already 7th highest-grossing PlayStation game in the US thanks to PC

Back in February, Arrowhead Studios hit it big with Helldivers 2, reaching the top of both the Steam and PlayStation charts. In the months since, the team have continuously updated the game with new and free content. It therefore comes as little surprise that Helldivers 2 has already become the 7th highest-grossing game in PlayStation first-party history in the US.

While neither Arrowhead nor Sony have shared any concrete sales figures for Helldivers 2, the game broke records for concurrent players, chart listings and more. As such, it was safe to assume that the title had already made a ton of money since its release back in February.

Confirming this, industry analyst Mat Piscatella took to Twitter to reveal “PC has been a huge part of the success of Helldivers II in the US. With PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history” adding that “without PC it wouldn't currently rank among the top 20.”

The US is of course a huge market for Sony, making this achievement even more notable. Adding further emphasis on the impact of the day-one PC launch, Piscatella stated “according to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, Helldivers II has ranked first in US MAU on Steam each month since launch (including April).”

All in all, it’s safe to assume that Sony won’t be changing its strategy on bringing live service games to PC alongside PlayStation – a great thing indeed.
