Deep Rock Galactic Rogue-lite spin-off announced

Deep Rock Galactic is a fun co-op first-person shooter which sees players working together to mine underground resources in fully-destructible environments – all the while trying to hold back the horde of enemies coming your way. Since its early access release in 2018, the game has amassed a large audience, selling over 5 million copies. Now, the team are expanding their IP further with the announcement of ‘Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core’.

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is a co-op focused spin-off which – as can be gleaned from the name – features a bunch of rogue-lite elements. Players will “start from basics in each mission and cooperatively build up powers and abilities for the team, sometimes leading to insanely overpowered builds and other times to spectacular flops.”

No exact release date has been provided, though even when it does eventually arrive, Rogue Core will launch initially in Early Access – similar to the first game. That said, the team at Ghost Ship Games have already written up a roadmap, revealing that a closed Alpha will launch during Q1 of 2024 ahead of the game’s Early Access release some time in November of next year.

Rogue-lites have become increasingly common over the past few years with a bunch of different games either including rogue-lite elements from the get-go, or added after the fact in a post-launch update.

Deep Rock Galactic is a fun co-op first-person shooter, and so hopefully Rogue Core manages to translate all of its many mechanics into this rogue-lite spin-off.
