Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core launches in Early Access to ‘Mixed’ reviews

First announced back in 2023, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is a rogue-lite spin-off of the popular co-op first-person shooter. Initially planned to arrive back in 2024, the game would later see its release pushed back. Finally, after plenty of waiting and excitement, DRG: Rogue Core is officially available now in Early Access…unfortunately launching to mixed reviews.

Available to purchase now for £24.99, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core has officially entered Early Access, with the team at Ghost Ship Games confirming that it will remain in this state for roughly 18-14 months – though as with all Early Access titles, this could easily change.

For the uninitiated, DRG: Rogue Core is similar to the base Deep Rock Galactic, though with a focus on offering a faster-paced and more intense overall experience; starting with basic equipment which can be upgraded over the course of a run.

Deep Rock Galactic Early Access

Despite its longer-than-expected development, early impressions of Rogue Core have been unfortunately mixed, with Steam users (particularly fans of the original game) lamenting its antagonistic upgrade system for a co-op title alongside its harsh timer. That said, fans of rogue-lites share a more generous impression of the game.

Either way, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core has only just entered Early Access, and so it will be interesting to see how the game evolves over the next two-or-so years.
