After spending many years in development hell, Dead Island 2 finally released last year to a surprisingly positive reception. Unfortunately, for some, the game was not made available on Steam, instead being a timed Epic Games Store exclusive. Following the announcement back in February, Dead Island 2 is finally available on Steam.
Exactly one year on from its initial release, Dead Island 2 has been unshackled from the Epic Games Store on PC, and can now be purchased through Steam.
Both in honour of its Steam launch as well as the game’s 1st anniversary, the Dead Island 2 can currently be had for 50% – meaning £24.99 for the standard edition; £26.989 for the Deluxe Edition (includes a couple packs) and £32.99 for the Gold Edition; which adds all off the DLC released via the Expansion pass alongside the Deluxe Edition content.
Unfortunately, early reception towards the Steam launch has been mixed, with some voicing their frustration at the fact that Dead Island 2 still requires Epic’s Online Services in order to function – a blow to those who waited a year in order to avoid Epic’s services.
That said, if you don’t mind some Epic Games software in the background, now is a great time to get your hands on this surprisingly great sequel – especially given the game’s incredibly rocky development.
