Back in 2019, Ubisoft departed from Steam in order to focus on its own Ubisoft Connect launcher. While this launcher currently remains the only way to play modern Ubisoft titles (well, that and through the Epic Games Store), a new data mine suggests that the publisher might be heading back to Valve’s PC platform.

As reported by ResetEra’s AshenOne, Ubisoft Connect launcher data miner ‘YoobieTracker’ discovered a new product entry which lists a Steam version of 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – all but confirming that Ubisoft is making a return to the Steam platform in some form or another.

Ubisoft’s potential return to Steam comes in the wake of Activision once again bringing their titles to the platform – following their own era of launcher exclusivity. The question remains whether Ubisoft will bring its entire back catalogue of games to Steam, or whether it will simply choose to add new games moving forward.

Of course, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is not a new game, however, it is the latest title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and so its inclusion on Steam would make sense. Hopefully, the rest of the catalogue is also brought forward to Steam. We will have to wait and see.
