Chernobylite was an interesting 1st person thriller which left early access back in 2021 to a solid reception from both fans and critics alike. Interestingly, despite this, the team at Farm51 looked to be taking a very different approach with its sequel – turning it into a 3rd-person open world Souls-like. Those who are interested in the project can now show their support as the Kickstarter for Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone has officially gone live – alongside some promising updates for fans of the first game.
Available to support for the next 30 days or so, the Kickstarter campaign for Chernobylite 2 has now officially gone live, letting you back the project early.
As mentioned, one of the biggest changes from Chernobylite to its sequel is the shift from a 1st person perspective to a 3rd person one.
The team at Farm51 went into their reasons behind this change, however, for those who prefer the original game’s perspective, they did shared some positive news:
“We’d like to ask you to join our new Kickstarter campaign in the one but very important goal: to give us the ability to implement the FPP combat system that many of you would love to play. First, by confirming that it’s something you really want, then by helping us to fund the extra costs of additional work, and finally, by giving us feedback on how do you feel the new feature works before the game is fully completed and shipped to the masses.”
The full breakdown of the team’s FPP plans can be found HERE, including their current progress on the feature and more.
Chernobylite was a fun and creepy game which was aided by its first person perspective and so it is nice to see the team looking into offering players the option for whichever perspective suits them the best.
Hopefully the game will manage to hit its target goal of £80,000 – though with the campaign already at £30k, hopefully it won’t take too long to achieve.
