Blizzard games are finally coming to Steam

After spending years away from the platform, Activision finally announced that it would bring all future published titles to Steam. This began with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II late last year and since then we have seen a number of missing Activision titles added to the platform. Now, the other half of the publisher – Blizzard – is following suit, starting with Overwatch 2.

Making the announcement on their blog, the team said “Battle.net is the home of all our PC players, and over the years, we’ve evolved our platform to support updated technologies, capabilities, and our communities’ expectations. But as we’ve evolved, the industry has evolved too–gaming is no longer just for specific communities as it was when Battle.net launched over two decades ago, gaming is for everyone–and though we remain committed to continually investing in and supporting Battle.net, we want to break down the barriers to make it easier for players everywhere to find and enjoy our games.”

With that, Blizzard officially confirmed that “we are bringing a selection of our games to Steam, starting with Overwatch 2… which will be available on the platform on August 10!”

No further details were shared regarding what other titles will find their way onto the platform, however they did state that “As far as what’s next for Blizzard on Steam, we’ll be sharing more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.”

Being a free-to-play game, Overwatch 2 is a good fit for being the first Blizzard game to drop onto Steam. Hopefully the rest of Blizzard’s titles find their way eventually.
