A quarter of a billion PC players use the Epic Games Store

A couple months removed from 2023, Epic Games have now released their year-in-review, revealing a bunch of interesting statistics pertaining to the Epic Games Store. Despite slow growth (and a regression in some aspects), the PC store front has now managed to exceed 270 million registered users.

Available to view in its entirety HERE, Epic Games Store’s 2023 year-in-review features a breakdown of the PC storefront’s success over the past year, revealing that the platform now has over 270 million users on PC (an increase of 40 million over the previous year).

Additionally, EGS managed to draw in 75 million monthly active users in December of last year (up from 68 million) – with a peak daily active user count of 36.1 million.

For comparison, Steam’s peak concurrent user count lands at around 33.7 million – though it is worth noting that peak concurrent daily users and peak daily active users can be two very different things.

On a more positive note, over the course of 2023 Epic Games gave away a total of 86 games for free – totalling over $2000 in value (based on RRP). Additionally, with “nearly” 586 million games claimed, each free title was claimed by an average of 6.8 million users.

It would be interesting to see just how different all these figures would be had Epic Games ceased its free game program. Fortunately for our sakes, this has not happened yet. The full infographic can be found HERE.
