Metal Gear Solid V PC system requirements announced

Yesterday it was announced that the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would have its release date brought forward, bringing it in line with the console versions. Now, we also have the recommended system requirements, though it doesn't really seem like good news for AMD users.

Both the minimum system requirements and the recommended requirements make no mention of either AMD processors or AMD graphics cards. That said, the requirements are fairly similar to those we found with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

Minimum requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7×64, Windows 8×64 (64-bit OS Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2GB) or better (DirectX 11 card Required)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 7×64, Windows 8×64 (64-bit OS Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 (3.60GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (DirectX 11 graphic card required)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card (Surround Sound 5.1)

By comparison, Ground Zeroes had the same CPU and GPU requirements, with no mention of AMD hardware and that game turned out pretty well on the PC. There might not be anything to worry about but considering all of the drama surrounding Konami and the Metal Gear studio recently, I'd be wary no matter what hardware you happen to be running.

KitGuru Says: Konami isn't exactly a publisher I would put my faith in to right now. If you are planning to grab Metal Gear Solid V on the PC, then maybe hold off and wait to see how the port turns out first.

Fully agree, don’t pre-order anything this season on PC.
    Its just crazy!

  2. I played ground zeros on a low end AMD setup, the game ran at an absolute joyful 60fps at medium settings all the way through the various game modes and missions.

  3. I would say don’t pre-order at all unless you plan to play a game whatever its quality.
Wait for the reviews, and at least wait for the 2nd patch (the one following the day-1 patch ^^)
