PCSpecialist Luna Pro R Prebuilt Desktop Review

PC Specialist's Luna Pro R delivered some very respectable results during our testing. The concept of the Luna series is focused on aesthetics as well as performance and after reviewing the system in detail we feel that this PC delivers in both of those areas. The all white build looks stunning and small finishing touches like great cable management and white cable extensions only add to the overall ‘wow' factor.

Gaming performance at 1440p was respectable throughout all of the titles tested and could be further increased with settings tweaks. 4k performance was, unsurprisingly, quite weak in most titles, but upgrading the GPU to an RTX 4080 when configuring a system from PC Specialist is very simple and would help with 4k performance.

The Luna Pro R is quite noisy when using the ‘out of the box' fan configuration and was noticeable during our testing, but again this could be improved with some settings tweaks.

Build quality was evident as soon as the system was unboxed and it is clear that PCSpecialist took a great amount of care when putting the system together. Nothing was faulty or partially plugged in and the memory DOCP profile was setup correctly, something which is easy to miss.

The design and looks of the Luna Pro R desktop are absolutely top tier and garnered comments from everyone that laid eyes on this system, catching eyes at every opportunity.

When comparing prices to a almost identical specification, albeit with black parts, the difference in cost was reasonable and after factoring in the warranty and Windows licensing costs is more than reasonable.

You can purchase the Luna Pro R directly from PCSpecialist for £1799 HERE.

Update 21/8/23: Since our review was published, PCSpecialist have updated the spec of the Luna Pro R so it now comes with a white 12VHPWR cable instead of the black adapter that is shown in our review. The price has not changed so this is a welcome change and only improves the aesthetic.

Pros:

  • Stunning white theme and component choice
  • Great cable management
  • Very well priced when compared to building a comparable system
  • Great 1440p gaming performance

Cons:

  • RAM could be faster.
  • Slightly loud when using the default fan settings, especially for CPU workloads.
  • Black 12VHPWR adapter cable doesn't match the white aesthetic. (See above update).

KitGuru says: The Luna Pro R goes to show that custom desktop gaming PCs are not just all about performance. This system is stunning and will easily fit in to any setup and become a centrepiece. Design isn't the only area this computer delivered though, performance and build quality also impressed us.
