The MSI Gaming X Slim variant of the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080 Super handled thermal load relatively well during our sustained test in Cyberpunk 2077, reaching a 75 degrees celsius hotspot reading and a 65 degree GPU temperature.
The system does generate a significant amount of noise when carrying out CPU intensive tasks – as can be seen from the 54 decibels recorded during a Cinebench multicore run. However, during gaming and when idle, the system noise is nothing out of the ordinary.
Total system power when measured from the wall socket peaked at 437 watts when running Cyberpunk 2077 on maximum settings. The GPU pushes this figure up substantially higher than the 180 watts recorded during a Cinebench multicore run and 90 watts with the system sitting idle.
The CPU Package power recordings highlight the power efficiency of Ryzen 7 7800X3D found in the system, with the processor using a sustained 90 watts of power during a Cinebench multicore benchmark.
The CPU temperature readings mirror what we saw in the previous power consumption chart, with the processor generating the most heat during a Cinebench run.
