AWD-IT Erebus Prebuilt System Review (4070 Super)

The Erebus prebuilt desktop from AWD-IT performed well during our gaming tests and benchmarks, maintaining average FPS north of 60, which is impressive for the CPU/GPU pairing of a Ryzen 7 7700X and RTX 4070 Super.

The overall build is tidy and cable management is good throughout, helped no doubt by the inclusion of the iCUE Link H150i all in one CPU cooler and it's single cable connectivity. The QX120 fans included with this cooler look excellent and support a wide array of Corsair RGB presets, although I do feel that the aesthetics of the system would benefit from the radiator being installed in the side/front of the iCUE 3500x RGB case.

In a similar vein, the mismatched fan models lead to the impressive ‘Time Warp' lighting mode being useable on only 3 of the 6 system fans. Being able to run this mode on all 6 fans would look much better.

The Western Digital SN580 2TB SSD installed in the system is not the fastest PCIe Gen 4.0 we've seen in a prebuilt before but will be easily fast enough for general and gaming use. The motherboard is good and does have a generous amount of capacity for future upgrades – including support for a PCIe Gen 5.0 SSD, which sadly is not included in the spec of the system by default.

Overall, the Erebus delivers solid gaming performance at both 1440p and 4K and contains some very nice Corsair components. Pricing is very reasonable, with an identical system costing roughly £60 more when building yourself, than when compared to the price being charged by AWD-IT.

You can purchase the Erebus desktop PC from AWD-IT for £1799 including VAT and delivery HERE.

Pros:

  • Great pricing when compared to building the same spec system,
  • Generous warranty,
  • Good gaming performance, as expected from the hardware.
  • Solid motherboard with capacity for component upgrades,

Cons:

  • Mismatched Corsair fans – the case fans do not support Time Warp lighting.
  • PCIe Gen 4 SSD is on the slower side.
  • Slight imbalance in the amount of the price allocated to the case and cooler.

KitGuru says: The Erebus is a good prebuilt PC that is priced well, but could do with some tweaking to the fan setup.
