Modder recreates AMD Project Quantum system

When AMD announced the Radeon R9 Fury GPUs in 2015, it also showcased an interesting-looking desktop system named Project Quantum. A quick look at it shows it's not your average PC, featuring a unique two-segment chassis powered by Radeon graphics and an Intel 4th Gen chip. Unfortunately, AMD never released the product, but one modder has managed to recreate the system.

YouTuber ‘stand_up_g4m3r' (via VideoCardz) rebuilt AMD's Project Quantum system using an ASRock DeskMini X300W PC, a 3D printer, plenty of filament, and various tools (screwdrivers, tweezers, a soldering kit, pliers, etc.).

As a side note, the ASRock DeskMini X300W PC packs an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G APU and 32GB of memory. These specs were untouched, and it's exactly what will be powering the fan-made Project Quantum.

You can see the modding process in the video, from printing and preparing the parts to painting and installing them. He even built an AIO liquid cooler for the CPU, just like the original Project Quantum.

It has been seven years since the announcement of the original Project Quantum, and we've barely heard anything about it. We know AMD developed some internal prototypes and submitted a patent for a similar system in 2020. However, nothing has been publicly announced or shown since 2015.
